Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
"ZipOrZoom," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the makers of the ZipOrZoom archive manager. If you have questions about this policy, you can reach us by opening an issue on our GitHub repository.
2. What the app collects
ZipOrZoom is a local-first desktop application. Archive contents, filenames, passwords, checksums, and anything else you load into the app are processed on your device and are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
The app makes outbound network requests only in the following circumstances:
- Update checks. On launch, the app may fetch a small manifest file from GitHub to check whether a newer version is available. This request includes your app version and operating system. It does not include any personal information or information about your files. You can disable update checks in the app preferences.
- User-initiated actions. If you explicitly click a link in the app (for example, "View release notes" or "Report an issue"), your browser will make a request to the destination. Those destinations have their own privacy policies.
3. What this website collects
This marketing website is served as static files. We do not set cookies, and we do not run client-side analytics or fingerprinting. Standard web server logs may record your IP address, user agent, and the page you requested as part of normal hosting operation; those logs are retained only for as long as needed to operate and secure the site.
4. Crash reports and diagnostics
ZipOrZoom does not automatically send crash reports or telemetry. If you choose to open an issue on GitHub and manually attach a log file or screenshot, that information becomes part of the public issue, and you should review it before posting.
5. Third parties
Downloads are hosted on GitHub Releases. When you visit GitHub to download the app, GitHub's privacy statement applies. We don't share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, or any similar third party, because we don't collect it in the first place.
6. Your choices
- You can disable automatic update checks in Preferences → Updates.
- You can use the app entirely offline.
- You can uninstall the app at any time; there is no account to delete.
7. Children's privacy
ZipOrZoom is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes. Material changes will be highlighted.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent via an issue on the GitHub repository.
